Solar and Geothermal Energy Use in the NABU Information Center

Client:
Naturschutzbund Deutschland (NABU) e.V.

Blumberger Mühle 2

D-16278 Angermünde

Land/Region: Germany

Period: 1996 – 1997

Project Description:
The BLUMBERGER MÜHLE Information Center of the Naturschutzbund Deutschland e. V. was established in the Schorfheide-Chorin biosphere reserve in 1997. It is characterized by an innovative, primary energy-saving heat supply system for space heating and the preparation of sanitary hot water (SHW).

In the first line, the yields obtained from a solar-thermal collector system are used for the preparation of SHW and direct support of space heating. Solar heat available beyond is stored in the subsoil via borehole heat exchangers (BHE) where it serves the active regeneration of the near-BHE zone and afterwards the development of a zone at a temperature exceeding the natural soil temperature.

At a later point in time during the heating period, the stored heat is recovered for space heating by means of a heat pump.

GTN Services:

  • Plant concept
  • Modeling of the system operation
  • Licensing procedures under the Water Act

Aquifer Thermal Energy Store (ATES) for a Gas and Steam Turbine Cogeneration Plant Neubrandenburg

Efforts aiming at minimizing the primary energy use through the coupling of different processes of energy transformation (e.g., cogeneration of heat and power) are often hindered by the seasonal discrepancy of energy offer and energy demand.
